For the record, in watching the "Long Way..." series I start thinking that a motorcycle might be fun. But then they show riding in torrential rain, wiping out on sand, and narrowly avoiding being crushed by the bikes just falling over. Then I think that maaaaybe I'll just stick to cars 😀 - ThreadSky

Motorcycling has more of a 'the journey is the trip' feel, and you tend to stop at smaller, more interesting places...but rain SUCKS NGL.

I can absolutely see that as a benefit. There seems to be an openness that is part of motorcyle travel, a feeling of being more a part of the environment than when blowing through in your little steel box.

That’s exactly what I feel when I ride. I remember when I was riding my bike home the first time and smelling the honeysuckle as I rode by a set. Even in a full face helmet you’re so much more connected to where you are.

Plus on long rides you make stops more.

I went to Oshkosh one year and took the bike, and that was a longer trip on backroads but it was really cool too. Exhausting but I got to see some neat places.

Also parked the bike under Boo.

Parking pretty much anywhere you want is a plus too :) My late father used to call the wind and the scents 'God's air-conditioning'.
