I’m about 99.99999% convinced Bednar and the organization never forgave him for giving up a soft goal in the Seattle game after Kelly made those five blocks in a row. Bednar made a point of saying he didn’t like that goal at the presser.

I was pretty surprised at Bednar’s treatment of annunen in his pressers in general. He seemed a lot more comfortable being transparently negative toward annunen than georgiev.
I worry about Bednar still having the ear of the team sometimes, but he’s generally incredibly chill and reasonable. It makes me really wonder what was going on there. Only thing I can think of is that maybe he didn’t think juice had the appropriate mentality somehow…
From what I understand Annunen gets lit up regularly in practice. I’m guessing it’s not just Bednar who soured on him, might also be Parkkila as well (though I have no evidence of that, just specilation).
I’ll admit I was surprised at that too. Very unlike him to single a player out. Especially when he does Olympic-level mental gymnastics to massage Georgiev’s fragile ego.
