On a flight to the US I managed to bypass the system by messaging the airline to say my daughter has a disability (Crohn's) and needed to be seated near to a bathroom. We got seats together for no charge and took carry-on cases as staying with family with washer dryers.
On an internal flight in the US, me and my Mrs were seated separately and they wanted $120 each to move us together. I pointed out that they only had to move one of us but they weren't having it!
We didn't pay it and just swapped seats with someone on the plane.
The only way that would be worth it is if I got to choose the seats of everyone else on the plane. And got a little biog of each person with their interests and behaviors. "These people might hit it off, These guys would be a great couple, The annoyingness of these people might cancel out" etc...
Well that's confirmed I've made a right decision to see you live. Live as in performance like, not live like a permanent presence on your sofa. Looming.
