I usually do the "round up for charity" thing at cash registers. Ronald McDonald House, Humane Society at PetSmart, etc. This is the first time I was asked to "Round up for the troops?" Sorry what? No?

I stopped that and just do red cross salvation army and thr most to feeding America. No in between bullshit. Also i like the reaction. Sorry I don't like puppies and kittens. I actually love puppies and kittens but the reaction is priceless
Go back to that place and ask for literature on their charity. Some of those round ups never make it to the actual cause. That is a new one for the troops. What troops whose troops?
My dad owned a business that did this. In order to use their charity the business promised a fixed donation. Anything above that amount the business kept. I donate directly to any charities I want to support because of this. Capitalism.
Many times, you are just allowing the company to claim a bigger portion of their income was given went to non-profit activities, reducing their tax burden without them actually doing anything extra.
We have a pet store where every time they ask if we would like to donate a can of dog or cat food instead of money. We do that. We get goat milk from that store and she goes for grooming there. I am very picky aside from that. Brain Injury Association, cancer funding. Will donate to St Jude.
