I was explaining this situation to my husband and small (under 10) child the other day, and when I got to the part about Khalil being arrested for protesting, the smart little bugger piped up "But WHY would THAT get you arrested?"
Absolutely. The Venezuelan people need to be referred to as being kidnapped and enslaved 100% of the time. Any other reference to them is erroneous and weak. Words have power and we need to use them powerfully.

I an disagree with a person and still respect his humanity and his rights if he respects mine. He broke no law and deserves his freedom.
The images of the Venezuelan asylum seekers send to El Salvador are even worse. They were not detained or deported, they were kidnapped and enslaved.
