Democrats are required to impeach because crimes have been committed in the open. They don't have to make it their main thing but they should still attempt it.

I don't know why there would be a voting process if there is simply an automatic requirement that a president be impeached - and/or removed. Seems like an option not a mandate.
It's kind of both. He can be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, but why would you *not* impeach a president who committed high crimes and misdemeanors? It's a moral imperative, not a legal imperative.
It might upset your moral code to watch what is happening. Lots of things in DC upset my moral code but "someone should do something" means, to me, someone should do something that might actually matter.
Can't imagine why Congress should spend time on a fruitless exercise now. He's BEEN impeached twice (when Dems had majority!) & the electorate placed him in office again. Won't even happen in the House now.

The goal should be to drive down his approval ratings, which would be good for midterms & might give a few in the GOP reason to speak up.
