Fantasy Medicine and the PA role.
3 years of some “science” subject and 2 years of “PA studies” is not Medicine.
3 years not studying Medicine plus 2 years not studying Medicine = 0 years studying Medicine.

Patients, ordinary PAs, grass roots doctors and public have all been misled.
So your post is accurate but irrelevant.
Doctors on rotation see their shifts being given to PAs by the trusts that run centres/hospitals because the PA costs them less than a doctor might to see the same number of patients. Especially so with undifferentiated one where training counts the most.
My issue is with targeting all PAs because some of them have been deployed inappropriately.
What we are left with is a cohort of people who are not trained in medicine acting as doctors.
I don’t think anyone is targeting PAs here. What we want is role scopes and boundaries to be drawn up and adhered to.
Where they are being deployed inappropriately, that is down to management and that is where the issue lies. A PA asked or expected to act as a Doctor is being deployed inappropriately.
And going back to your original comment, PAs have not studied medicine, and they cannot practice medicine, nor can they be expected to.
You say it’s only the latter that happens, I say that it’s both the former and the latter.
