Definitely not just young people. For the primary audience of this column, we focused the angle on young workers, but you're right, it's widespread across levels of experience. It's truly terrible.

- The reviewer calls and asks me to explain things that are already in my resume.
- They send me the technical test, I finish it and send it.
- They schedule a personal interview.
...

One source, Manika, told me about first applying for a job in 2022. She just heard back recently and was encouraged to apply again. “It was the same position, same qualifications. They added more years [of experience] that they wanted for the person to fill the role, but they lowered the salary.”

I apply for various types of jobs. Last paid job was 2009. Did voluntary work before Lockdown stopped them. Have to do 5 hours every single day. Most companies don't reply, or if I get a reply, it will be 'not taking application forward'. Can't get feedback. I'm on Universal Credit. Aged 54 years.
