so to "creatively and systematically change the animation industry for the better" you sided with one of the biggest mega corp that literally added racism and homophobia this year???
Gratulations!
I wonder if amazon will have limited streaming rights like the Hellaverse announcement? Or will it continue to release on YouTube alongside (at the same time) as Prime?
ok my only question is: Is any new things that you have lined up, going to come out to Youtube first or is it direct to prime and wait a while before youtube? If its the latter that fucking sucks.
Huh, first Netflix and now Amazon? Enjoying seeing animation win but am wondering who else is gonna catch on to Indie Animation is the future and cut deals
man i just feel indifferent abt this. this ain't no win for indie animation, nor a loss, it's just disappointing yall ain't even gonna celebrate the kinda stuff alan becker is doing or the indie animation communities out there that keep the drive for animators to continue improving
GLITCH just lost the "community" side of creative control because of mass copyright strikes by Scamazon prime, so this was just as much of a mistake as TADC on Netflix, if not worse.
why is this people’s reaction to someone rightfully voicing that they wouldn’t want to go on amazon prime, which has used its money for so many bad things for people in its country, to watch indie animation?
does amazon prime and indie animation NOT seem like water and oil to anyone else?
yeah, i noticed. so again, WHY is that your reaction to someone rightfully voicing that they wouldn’t want to watch a show on a platform that uses its money for evil shit? at least on youtube, it’s easier to just support them directly
The person is clearly upset for having to pay to watch something. At no point did they say that they were upset with the morality of watching the show on Amazon.
No actually! I think it’s a good thing if a locked down storefront brings more traffic up an independent project. Think of it like a mall opening a mom and pop shop
Kind of hard to claim moral superiority in using YouTube/Google as if they're somehow the more morally just multinational corporations. They're just as shiftless a Amazon in many aspects.
Plus this is entirely optional aswell so they can opt out of Prime if they so choose.
i didn’t say youtube is too much better morally, i’ve been saying it’s easier to support glitch directly on youtube. because their links to merch, patreon or passive donations are under the video
Yeah okay but that seemingly hasn't changed. People can still support Glitch directly. Amazon in this case is just acting as a distributor in bringing MD to a more mainstream audience.
And you still can? They literally said they will continue to release on YouTube. This really feels like you are just trying to find anything to complain about. If you prefer to watch on YT, so be it, but why are we trying to stop new fans from finding these series? Grow up.
don't really care about someone making a deal with a streaming service, im just malding that it got more people saying 'holy shit this is gonna CHANGE indie animation forever' than say, building an indie animation community like the roblox animation community or sketchtube
i think the point is you don’t HAVE to pay for youtube and it’s easier to directly support just them (with links to merch, their patreon, and other donations more available on youtube)
Honestly with how high quality these shows are why should we be entitled to these shows for free? Sure merch & patreon are decent sources of funding but those are far from stable & necessitates an already large preexisting fan base that can shut out lesser known creators.
i’m not saying we should watch these for free. in a great world these companies wouldn’t do weird shit and maybe youtube would pay glitch a livable wage.
but that seems far off, and people are still going to say “hey amazon sucks because of these things” and they’re allowed to say that
They can say that till their blue in the face. Doesn't make it a very compelling argument. Not to defend Prime too much but at least they're willing to give these creators full control & right to retain their IPs compared to YT that acts more as a obstacle to overcome to distribute on their platform
People like you are the reason why walking disasters like Vivziepop are still around and pumping out complete dogshit, lmao. GLITCH is a big company, they should have just stuck with what they had for funding instead of throwing themselves into corporate bear traps and hurting their company further.
Glitch & Spindle are virtually cut from the same cloth as well as two of their big showrunners Goose & Seagull are both Spindle Alumni. They've also complimented each other's work & share vast overlapping fan bases.
well donations isn’t buying merch, you can do whatever amount you can. and the people that can afford it WILL buy it, people who want to support the show will find a way. we all want these shows to exist
Genuinely can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but in case you aren't...
YouTube has done so many things wrong with their platform. Not terminating SSSniperWolf, encouraging dangerous YouTube Kids content, protecting literal criminals, the list is long enough to warrant me using adblockers.
yk i really wish that alot of creators ditched youtube for good and instead moved onto similar websites, but the problem with alternatives is that they have a microscopic userbase
newgrounds MIGHT be suitable for animation, but what about non-animated content like minecraft letsplays or ytpmvs
There WAS a site called Vlare years ago that gained traction during the YouTube COPPA scare years ago, but the project was terminated before it even had a solid chance of competing with YouTube.
I have very strong theories on why it was shut down, but I've had it with being kicked around today.
Look. I love Glitch Productions, Murder Drones and all, but I don't think I feel comfortable watching it on a streaming service. It's much better if I just watch it on YouTube.
I'm now more hesitant to watch if I' honest. I don't use amazon if I can at all avoid it. Frankly I'm not fond of how youtube is politically, but Amazon comes off a bridge too far.
I know I can watch it on youtube, but given it was only just put on, it seems hesitant to me to support at all...
If it had always been on it, that would be one thing to be clear. But the truth is simply, in today's climate, every new expansion onto such platforms supports my death.
I wish I could cut out youtube too, which I need to work at next, Netflix I can accept, not Amazon.
I dunno, maybe I'm being weird, but it means I'm tempted to completely stop watching, no more TADC for instance...
It sucks that I feel the need to, but really I do hate supporting projects even tangentally supporting the fascists. Especially if they only just branched into it, it comes off worse.
The show is just on Amazon Prime. They don't have a say in what happens at glitch.
Neither do the shareholders.
You don't have to watch it there if you don't want to.
It's already complete on YouTube.
This isn't like Hazbin or Helluva boss. They're still independent.
The post says so.
While true, it still is a choice being made to display it on there at all. I am more keen on choices to avoid Amazon entirely, for instance.
If every creator decided to not permit amazon to display their content for instance over their behavior, amazon would struggle, and either change behavior or
Likely TADC will stay on Netflix for the time being but I could see Gaslight & Knights of Guinevere going to Prime once they enter full production. Perhaps in a similiar deal to Helluva with a premire on Prime with a month gap before a YouTube release.

So glad to see these changes, after so many animated shows suffer at the whims of these massive companies.
Infinity Train, The Owl House, Inside Job, to name a few.
This is the change we need!
I wonder if amazon will have limited streaming rights like the Hellaverse announcement? Or will it continue to release on YouTube alongside (at the same time) as Prime?
I found it when I searched in Japan.
I would love to see it!
No seriously, fuck streaming services, fuck all these moves to other platforms, I'd rather watch these on YouTube with an Adblocker on.
I'd rather watch this shit for free instead of shelling out $100 to Scamazon for a pointless streaming service version.
Their just casting a bigger net to gain more audiences that's fine.
This is great actually and thy still retain creative control
How the hell do I edit!? Lol

And what about you? You just gonna trust them on their word? Gonna eat the corporate propaganda right up like the unintelligent dumbshit you are?
You make me sick.
but that seems far off, and people are still going to say “hey amazon sucks because of these things” and they’re allowed to say that
It's gonna be tough for Indie Animation to proceed with a decent budget thanks to the conditions in the market now.
YouTube has done so many things wrong with their platform. Not terminating SSSniperWolf, encouraging dangerous YouTube Kids content, protecting literal criminals, the list is long enough to warrant me using adblockers.

Now do Meta Runner next. 😈
Ima stick to YouTube, but any progress is progress.
