yeah .. and then the hedge funds and phqing $billionaires come along and BUY THEM all up. Further phqing the housing shortage. Bozo has an ETF that buys up millions of homes, so people cannot buy them. Then rents them for 2x the market, claiming the investors can make great returns. PHQ BOZO

Yeah back some years ago Murrysville made a great community park. But during the planning stages, a gorgeous home on nice large country acreage at an intersection posted signs “No” to community park” It was nowhere near their property at all. Guess only they were allowed to enjoy paradise! Effers

There’s not a housing shortage there’s just a shortage of affordable housing. But 80% of the houses on the marker right now at double or triple the price as they actually should be. And with agencies hoarding houses and only renting them out or making them Airbnb‘s That’s the problem.

The housing shortage is because all the “new housing” is bought up for investors or being sold/rented out at triple what it’s worth.

Not sure that’s true, but there is a lot of under developed Realestate on the south side of Chicago. Vacant lots that used to have homes and businesses on them. And lots of over crowding on the north side…

We live in a poor area that is on the Trainline that is now getting affordable rentals and social housing. It will be fantastic for the area as the space is an eyesore now and the housing desperately needed.

Some folk bought into the area because it was very cheap because of reputation.

They are now objecting to the social housing. This suburb is a mainly housing commission with some spots that were subdivided acreage. It's not fancy. It's not crime ridden, more people will help the local shops. Their property values have doubled and now they want to stop any development.

Not just affordable housing, which many people believe is all government subsidized, but even market rate or luxury. Developers do pay impact fees but never seems to solve the road, school, emergency services problem. There is HUD housing and affordable housing which many are based on median income.

We cannot build our way out of a housing affordability crisis created by wealth disparity. The three main drivers of housing costs are luxury developments, real estate speculation, & and investment packaging. The distance between Weiner’s and the compensated is larger than at any time in history.

The fact that worldwide home prices are beyond wage earners capacity to buy, is one example of how international investment has converted need into profit making centres. Adam Neumann, of WeWork, has $41 billion to buy a huge tracts of homes. He wants to be the largest landlord in the country.

Until it becomes illegal for corporations, LLC’s, and neighbourhoods to be packaged as investments, people will be priced out of housing. San Francisco has lost 12% of its population in the last 7 years. There is enough housing for two people per home, including children, but prices rise 15% year.

In Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, & Dallas, people in tech & finance flush with cash overbid on homes. One rich guy in my friend’s neighbourhood bought 3 houses at 175% of asking setting the new base value at $1.5m! He remodelled, sold them to investors at $2.5M each!One guy gentrified a whole area.

Well, developers have ruined my neighborhood, nice duplexes and quads with lower rent owner-inhabited apartments replaced by ugly McMansions who’s owners sell every year because they don’t like the neighborhood. Once we have no low cost rentals, they’ll want to stay. Fuckers

I’m so sick of the developers coming in and destroying towns while calling their monstrosities “low income housing” when we know only a small percentage are actually low income housing. Most of the condos are hardly affordable and the developers are getting rich. So yes, NIMBY
