tl;dr - not even trying to be arrogant but i think i lowkey might be the best team manager in the entire western scene lol, i kinda just knew instinctively to avoid or address all the pitfalls that usually kill teams
Reading this reminds me of when I tried running my own team back in 2018, I was new to the comp scene and my basis was from other competitive games. I did stuff like the month+ tryouts and trying to be on the same page about goals.
But with it being much lower level, a lot of the tryouts were too impatient and would just leave lmao. It made it easier to find the players who were passionate and wanted to play and improve, and knew that things take time. Honestly the way most Splatoon teams are run is insane to me.
Very interesting read! I feel similar in that I'm very good at managing teams but for the opposite reason(I'm a pain in the ass to schedule around so I'm super picky on who I play with bc I've had so many past teams explode on me)
A big thing my current team does that past teams don't is we screened for common goals and values in the tryout stage and constantly reaffirm said goals with long discussions
this was interesting! i definitely find similarities with my current team, especially with how I ran tryouts. I'm not the og captain of the team but we've been around for 1.5 years and I'm hoping to make it last! being a busy person while making the team work is super important to me

i don't think it's entirely reasonable to expect young teenagers to know how to be good managers
