Chiming in late here, but just wanted to say, hell no! I had a tantrum in a shop and refused to leave until someone bought me a light-up spinny plastic unicorn.
I went back to college at 44 years old for Computer Science, i won't lie it was hard to focus and learn at this age but well worth the effort! Good things are hard to achieve, i believe you can do this!
I went to nursing school at 38. One of my classmates was a former Navy corpsman and retired attorney who was using his social security retirement to pay for nursing school. If you want to be a doctor—go for it!
Depends. You got your pre-reqs? And have you taken the MCAT? You can get over being sick at the sight of blood, but how are you at doing without sleep?
My Dad quit as an accountant at GE at 40. Went back to school and got doctorate and masters in Economics. Taught for 25 years. Best decision he ever made. OK second best. He married my Mom.
On a serious note, you folks are all so kind and supportive. I feel bad that I was just joking (med school isn't for me), but if you are someone who wants to pursue such a career, I highly recommend reading everyone's uplifting comments. Go for it!! 👍🏻
At least you know you don't hold up well at the sight of blood! I found out one of my teachers did in college, and my boss told me when I needed help performing first aid! Neither told me...and both basically passed out...
Oof. My boss nearly fell off the stage (which would have ALSO been an emergency...). At least my college teacher was in a room of students...so they took him away. I got more than my fair share of 'calls' during college...mainly to the carpentry shop, including for one of my OTHER teachers...
Not too late, but you will have a shortened career, so you should choose a specialty that is likely to be short-handed during that period. I had a friend go to med school late a few decades ago, they chose Geriatrics.
When I went to Law School, there were 4 people over 40 in my class.
And two had retired from thier previous careers.
One was a former Narcotics cop-who wanted to work for the Public Defender's office.
I would say it's doable provided you're already a grad student, but probably unrealistic if you're just a lowly undergrad like me. I'm in my mid 40s with nothing but a HS diploma weighing my options and leaning heavily towards something that just requires a bachelor's plus a one year certificate.
I said the same with driving a car/ license. But then I thought, no, if not now, then when? I am 46 and signed up in driving school three weeks ago. It is tough, but I am getting better every week now. I will get there!

You can go to med school.
I'm old enough to have grandchildren. GO FOR EET!
(Kidding, of course. I'm well aware that I don't have the smarts for the job 😃)
If you’re dead - apply! Do all the things!
Wait, I mean... 😂👍🏻
Do it!

I recommend applying for entry at a local monastery.
They MIGHT be willing to overlook your advanced age.
Maybe.
