I get you, I just think it can be very effective to tell your representative that you're extremely mad and that you expect them to represent you and your interests, and that you will remember how they respond to this next primary
I think we're talking about two different things here. Telling your reps directly you want them to shape up is an excellent way to get your reps to be better. Blasting on main that they suck is a great way to demotivate people from even trying that.
The Democrats had almost a year to devise a strategy to counter Proj. 2025 should it be enacted and they completely neglected to do so. That they're now on the back foot against it is a problem of their own making, and it isn't being a bad solider to tell them we expect better from them.
They read different parts of it every day at the DNC like they were performing in an elementary school play…so they were at least aware of it. That’s something, right? Hello?
They had an entire previous administration and their own presidency to do literally anything to shore up after an insurrection and did nothing. Just moved on and tried to govern as usual with seditionists. Shocking that wasn't a good strategy.
They have plenty of plans to fundraise about it. I eagerly await the email from Chuck Schumer telling me that ICE is about to break down my door and stuff me in a black bag, so I should use my last 2 minutes of freedom to make an emergency donation.
They weren't interested in what was actually in it, and they would have enacted parts of it themselves. The only reason they talked about it at all is it was a convenient rhetorical campaign device. The fact that they didn't focus on the specifics is precisely why they lost.
But they’ve gotten super good at asking each of us for 12 dollars because that will help more than actually taking any action against this, right? Right?!?! 😭
They're disorganized and without coherent leadership & actionable plans; that, coupled with the general refusal of the Boomer gen to cede power to younger members, demonstrates a complacency that will only grow if we uncritically stand by.
I think some of y’all are mistaking my position of “Dems fucked this up and can & must do better” for “Dems are ontologically awful and always will be.” That’s just another flavor of doomerism and I ain’t got the time.
This is the point I was trying to make about the effectiveness of saying Dems suck on main. It far too often ends up getting read as "Dems will always suck so don't bother."
And they drilled it into our heads to read it, and believe the dangers. And we did and were horrified, but they had no plan to counter the madness. I'm disgusted.
I read that thing from beginning to end, and started thinking about how to insulate my life from the worst if they followed it. Shocking that members of Congress did not do the same.
It’s not their fault. They have “3 years of blame game” on their calendar for a Harris/Walz loss before they even consider building a committee to come up with a plan to counter P.25.

What else could they have done?
For example, between the leak of the Dobbs decision and its announcement, the Dems did precisely fuck-all.
When all those close to Biden knew he was in trouble they waited for Trump to pants him on live TV.
etc.
