being a young person at all is hard. being a young trans person is VERY hard. There are unfortunately a lot of suicides among that group. Sometimes the number "41%" is mentioned, which is the percentage of trans people that have thought about it or attempted it over their lives.
years ago when I learned that number I was horrified. but those who are transphobic like to use that 41% number to throw at trans people as a "joke" to encourage them to kill themselves. It is an act of hatred. its hard to overstate how much transphobes hate trans people.
there's not a lot of trans people, but a lot of people who can make a political career out of hating trans people, banning them from sports, from public bathrooms, from swimming pools, from the military, etc. Its a very hot button issue at the moment. We just want to live our lives.
its hard to ignore them when the people making them are basically running the government, and banning trans people from many parts of normal life. In the UK, the government recently banned trans people from all public restrooms. the online hateful comments are just a sign of a larger problem.
Does trans girl mean someone born a boy and then discovered they were a girl?
Just trying to make sense of the “hate”
And why is those who “hurt” always focused on? I read hundreds and hundreds of posts from people who are either Christian or conservative that were so sad and empathetic.
yes. a trans girl is someone assigned male at birth (AMAB) who transitions to fem later in life, at any age. someone who believes this is wrong, or untrue, is transphobic. she had many friends and family that loved her. the hurtful ones have a lot of political power at the moment.
Comments
Why do you think people internalize online comments so much? Do you think that is the cause, or are there links in real life?
Because I am a right-winger my feed is filled with activists who don’t let people live their lives.
That’s why I am here. I want to actually hear trans people talk and find out what their concerns and needs are.
I love listening to Chloe Cole and others, but there are huge parts of their story untold and I am trying to educate myself on those parts.
