I mean, he felt right for the time he was in. You have to remember that his "character" was made when we were just starting to deal with social media separating people who took everything at face value and "nerds" who wanted to correct people and did research.
I think the "character" has not aged well, but it was nice to see current projects look towards facts and a better future. Now, Adam, the person, has to do a lot of work to earn back trust he squandered because his brand was that his character was more authentic.
I am also way more willing to write people off for complexities caused by growing up in the USA culture. I have seen many people where their political views were inconsistent with their beliefs due to brainwashing.

I think he is honest in the stuff that affects him personally, (acting union and history), but might be lost on tech stuff.
