Bluesky openly says that DMs aren’t end to end encrypted and that they will look at your DMs in extreme cases so you’re right not to trust them. The good thing is that they have e2e encryption on their product roadmap so that even if you don’t trust them, they won’t be able to look at your DMs.

There’s also interesting background to the Trump 1.0 administration trying to get data from Twitter without a judge. They tried to unmask an “alt-gov” account critical of the administration. Back then, Twitter sued DHS to stop the data grab. Would Musk do the same? Would Meta?
