Yup. Drafting Barkley in the first round was stupid. And they could have gotten Daniel Jones in the 2nd, maybe even 3rd, round if they wanted him.

Only thing I disagree with is the idea that these moves "made them" make these other moves. At any time they could've stopped letting their mistakes compound. Arizona took Murray a year after taking Rosen. NY could've done something similar, but they chose to keep letting past dictate future.

That's one year in a multi-year timeline. There were also other qbs they could've taken last year, all of which are better prospects than the ones available this year. There's zero reason to defend how they've run their organization the last 10yrs.

It's been terrible. But only in hindsight.

Barkley made sense at the time with Manning, DJ was a better pick than Haskins in the draft.

I don't see much light at the end of the tunnel.

Lamar wasn't some guarantee.
And as a Bills fan, in the moment, people were not even sure we got the best Josh in the draft. ROSEN went at 10, could have easily been a Giant. And then you wouldn't have had Saquon.

Getting Josh Allen would have been amazing. Gladly would have traded for Saquon. But since every player changes the calculus, there's no real way to know what success the team would have had with different players in the mix. JA would probably have broken his leg instead of Saquon. 🤷‍♂️

DJ was never a good pick though. Even then. People were SCREAMING for Josh Allen (the DE, not the QB) at that pick. Going RB at 2 in the best QB draft in a while was bad enough, but panic drafting Jones when they really wanted Herbert (who went back to play with his bro) was the real disaster.

The thing is qb is the only position that matters so taking one is always fine. Even with Jones resigned they could have taken a qb and they still could have moved up last year. Always take QBs unless you know you have a stud.
