The majority of this country struggles to read at a 6th grade level. I highly doubt they know anything about the food system. I recently just learned that we import fertilizer for our domestic produce since we don’t produce enough.

It’s our high population, seasonality, land availability, and infrastructure. I just read “Abundance” by Ezra Klein and it was pretty interesting about how we can optimize our food system using greenhouses and renewable energy.

And our homegrown relies heavily on “imported” folk—ie immigrants—to be harvested. Im planting everything i can in my yard and relying on fruit from a friend’s organic orchard to can at summer’s end🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
