People understand that Elon Musk is "wealthy" (~400B), but they don't understand that his wealth as compared to people who we view as "extremely wealthy" is another thing altogether.

Nobody would argue that someone who had a net value of $100M would be "extremely wealthy". Such a person might own multiple large homes in exclusive locations, have in excess of 20 expensive cars, and might even own a private jet with a pilot on call.
But Elon is approximately 4,000 times more wealthy than the guy with $100M. To put in perspective, the median net worth in the US is $193K. If that net worth represents Elon, then your "extremely wealthy" guy would be worth $48.25.
