It's either Parable of the Sower, Pratchett's Nation, Hyperion (the first novel NOT the series), or Dandelion Dynasty
In terms of stuff I think you'd have a great time covering, I agree with the comment recommending Locked Tomb. Solid and/or weird plots + fun characters + when it hits it goes hard

Joe Abercrombie's Age of Madness trilogy is currently my favorite of all time, though I liked the First Law series too. I would kill to write characters the way he does while keeping the plot going at a good pace. Maybe one day!

Two very different genres and eras:

The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir (as yet unfinished)

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (and the unfinished 2nd trilogy: The Book of Dust)

Both very very near and dear to my heart. They filled the void left by that transphobe’s wizard books.

An obscure series which I feel is very under appreciated is the Snow Queen cycle by Joan D Vinge.

It’s a sci-fi (I see Dune inspiration) spin/retelling of the old Snow Queen story. Very good books

Later editions had amazing Michael Whelan covers done, too. Really, if you want a fun ride that no one has heard of, this duology (with a novella between) is very good. I’m itching to reread already
