A lot of policies, strategies and initiatives distract from that main focus. New reading schemes, curriculum tweaks, maths approaches (concrete, pictorial, fluency, mastery, reasoning), book corners, displays...are often forgotten within 6 months and have the reverse outcome to that desired.
