I know about 20 years ago this myth ran wild through evangelical circles.

Finding out the truth made me question a ton of "facts" I had learned from "creditable" sources. I'm kind of paranoid about sharing interesting facts I haven't looked up and verified myself now.

That would make sense, as this was an evangelical “white flight” school in South Carolina. But a sight longer than 20 years ago.

I'd guess it had been going around long before me seeing some prominent speaker use it in a video series.
