The impact of higher NLW on the benefits system is largely negative. Brings more people into the benefit cap, and conditionality. Takes free school meals away from children. And can lead to big UC cuts for the self employed

Don't follow the logic of this. You are assuming that raising NLW increases unemployment? Is that an empiric claim or a theoretical one? And the issue for self employed is if earnings from self employment are not, in fact, existing

Is there any readily accessible data on how purchasing power of those who were on lower minimum wage (but benefited from tax credits etc.) compared to those under the new one?
