My money would be on this, sadly. They'd rather have Cannon as AG than at SCOTUS, where there will be conservative pressure to nominate someone who is seen as more "deserving" (i.e., a man in the Federalist Society boys club).
I donβt think she gets SCOTUS and I donβt think she gets AG either. If I were him Iβd leave her right there, in a district where I might commit more crimes in the future.
And yes, then her Deputy would be Trump's criminal lawyer who defended the case in front of here, which seems fitting given where we are and how we got here.
