Discover is now the default feed for new accounts and I think there are a lot of people on both sides of the divide that don't understand how that has basically created two views into this platform

They should have a mechanism to jump them to the following tab when they are following X number of people. I can see Discover for when you just show up.

There is another issue: it seems like a huge chunk of his followers are accounts that follow thousands of others. Anyone following that many accounts is bound to not see posts by a huge amount of the people they follow just due to the sheer number of posts in their feed.

I never, ever click on Discover. Following is exactly what I want as it mirrors my former Twitter experience using a third party app. Twitteriffic got rid of all the ads and randos injected by the algorithm. When it got banned I was 100% out.

You can remove Discover from your list of feeds altogether, fwiw. Makes it easier to avoid ever seeing it.
