Vastly different. San Francisco is extremely unique, and sits in the middle of a very strange microclimate. If you go maybe 5 mi in any direction, you might experience temperature increases between 10 to 30° f.

In June it's not uncommon to have temperatures the mid 50s, while Oakland or Berkeley can be in the 80s.

June is also notoriously foggy in June -- look across the bay to any other city and it's bright and sunny.

San Francisco can also be extremely windy, especially when it is hot almost anywhere else in Northern California. This is in part due to pressure differentials between the ocean and places like the central valley.

This has perks though -- it's basically the same temperature throughout the year.

October and September are also San Francisco's summer, and they are the greatest months of all time.
