Musk said just that. You gotta wonder if they are even human. Maybe they're all that bunch of lizard people that QAnon was so freaked out about. Perhaps that call was coming from inside the house?
First-world nations & some developing countries have a public broadcasting network.
PBS is a nonprofit investment in the common good, removes the profit motive, providing news, educational programming by *broadcast*📻 & TV free to watch with a TV & bunny ears—you don't need $$ for cable or internet.
What a rotten, divisive question in the first place. We all pay taxes for things we don't use. That's just how it fucking works. I am so sick of these crybabies.
The inability to understand empathy has no doubt led us to where we are today. And not just how far greedy opportunists can get but also how unimaginable the resistance is. The intrinsic motivation to leave this world better and more just than how we found it was fatally underestimated
It must be so frustrating for someone incapable of empathy to see how strong it makes the people. In their world where everything has a price, it must be maddening to try to figure out why so many cannot be bought.
Preach! I know it's not a popular theory, but I blame capitalism. He with the most toys wins, mentality—rewarding competition over cooperation. Ever since I was a kid, that has rubbed me the wrong way. Seems to incentivize apathy, greed, & amorality in a culture that needs just the opposite.
Why the fuck should I pay for billionaires' new yachts? Why do I have to pay for Qatar gifting a $500 million air palace to the president of the US?
I've tried modifying my federal W4 but they won't let it take effect.
Still paying the maximum taxes every paycheck. And I get nothing back.
Absolutely. We are heading right into TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION territory. Although, to be fair, we've been heading this way for a long time. While Reagan helped usher in the systematic inequity tipping point, Citizens United sealed the deal. It's been a sustained 45-year slide.
Wish it were mine. Stumbled upon it on the interwebs. But someone commented with this link, which looks to be its origin, from back in 2017 when the #FelonKing was first installed in office.
The Republican party has been the stupid party for years. Reagan filled his speeches with nonsense, just half truths, flat out lies, and delusions, and when challenged, he jjust kept repeating his nonsense. Trump is Reagan 2.0. There are no half truths, just lies and delusions.
Your questions are excellent. I have one more to ask: What can we do to get the majority of Americans to DEMAND that Government function to support the survival and thriving of ALL Americans?
Those coal miners’ kids watch PBS for sure because it is FREE. As a child I didn’t have cable and we had four channels that came in on the rabbit ears, and we watched loads of PBS, kids shows and beyond. But DJT wouldn’t know anything about what it is like to be a poor kid…
Simply put, they have to show their asses for the attention.
It doesn't matter if it's positive or negative, it's all about attention. This bullshit will continue until we collectively decide we've had enough and we turn out backs on this ridiculous garbage like we should have done 10yrs ago.
I think a lot of this stuff wouldn't go on if the politicians actually had to face the people they hurt, much like healthcare administrators who make financial decisions that hurt patients every day. They don't actually see the results because they isolate themselves from it.
Sociopaths++++ don't care - at all! Narcissists usually know cognitive empathy, not all the rest - so they don't care. Many only want to enrich themselves/be in control/have power. Egos run wild. Admins do or die! Today doctors do or die = fired/leave job/state/country!
There is another point - while I never interviewed coal miners, I have done oral history interviews with steel workers and textile workers. I never entered a home where the TV was on that was NOT on PBS. Guess what? They love nature shows, Sesame St. for their kids, news. Gross assumptions here.
The British coal mining towns of the 19th-20th century all had libraries, art classes, study groups, book clubs, brass bands, choirs. They produced playwrights and authors and government ministers. It all got destroyed by the rise of Thatcher.
Everything working people did is dismissed. Lowell mill girls had theater, music, educational lectures, and nobody thought them smart, cultured. One steelworker I knew read Dante. Another went to see Madam Butterfly. We are class snobs.

Nothing the "gop" does suggests humanity or loyalty to their constituents.

Matter of fact, one of the oldest tropes of all time is the coal miner who doesn’t want his kids to be stuck in the mines like him
Loretta Lynn wrote a real famous song about then Sissy Spacek won an Oscar in the movie about it
they’re all for money and power and nobody else is

2. We live in a society. Part of the cost of living in a society is paying for things that serve the common good.
Either way the coal gets mined
Is actually actively worse for them if the guy they hire to do the mining can think for himself and cares what happens to others
You would reach more people, when you add a good description into the Alt-text field.
That is pretty easy, especially, when your image just contain text.
This way, you support visually impaired people and everyone else, who rely on a good filled Alt-text.
