Pretty obvious to me that the problem is, she doesn't do decimals. Saving $25 (25 DOLLARS) per day would add up to nearly $10,000 per year. Not quite, but close. Dingbat probably entered 25 X 365 and thought "OMG! It works out. The calculator said so." ππ€£
You're 100% right, the genesis of this was probably some line of thinking "putting $20/pay away adds up over time" etc... the sort of advice you give kids with their first part time job.
It telephone-chained itself into this nonsense and ya she could have trivially sanity checked the math. Ugh.
I originally heard it in high school with a nickel instead of a quarter, so every time I've seen it since I've known what they're trying to reference but are too dense to recall correctly.
I hope she's prepared for the Secretary of the Treasury position that is going to be offered to her this afternoon by the Drumpf Administration. #PackYourBags #BewareBessent #YoureFired
THIS is what happens when you defund the Department of Education! There is a reason America is like 32nd in math and science test scores.
We're so dumb, Burger King and McDonald's had to DISCONTINUE their 1/3lb burgers, because too many people thought 1/3 was less then 1/4 and didn't by them!
And the sad thing it, you know they did it on purpose!
They want a country where people can't balance their check book, can't do percentages in their head during store sales, can't do the simple math on there taxes. They want us dumb so they can cheat us!
SM literacy isn't the actual SM problem. The SM problem is that it's all about clicks. "Influencers" don't have to gaf about any real value in their content. They just *need* to get clicks. And feigned outrage is a clickbait winner. Fact: you helped her get clicks. The BS she posted doesn't matter.

β¦right? Extraterrestrial, yes?
Oh, damnβ¦
If you save a quarter on day one, two quarters on day 2, etc. you'll have saved (more than) $10,000 in a year. 66,795 quarters, to be exact.
These brilliant folks heard the first sentence and ran with it
My brain really needed to know the genesis. Thank you.
