Strictly speaking, I started being a kid in the mid 70s, but most of my childhood occured in the 80s. But, yeah, that moment in which I decided that I should go for varifocals rather than standard lenses in my new glasses hit me hard
I would have just gone with a single pair with normal lenses, but between my sight test and the pressure test (so with my glasses on rather than contacts in) I was looking at my phone and was far too aware that I needed to move it further away to read clearly
That's put the slightest of springs back in my step 🙂. Two years ago (my previous eye test) there wasn't enough difference in my distance and close vision to be worth worrying about it, but I've definitely noticed it the last couple of months, so it felt like it was time
Turns out it was five years ago I got my first pair (time is an unknowable fucker nowadays). Wearing them was briefly weird but quickly became perfectly normal and easy. You’ll be fine 👍
