Indeed. The monopoly on the use of force (policing, sentencing, jailing) is the remit, responsibility and authority of government. It should not be delegated to private contractors and profit-making should play no role. It creates incentives that have no business in law & order.

Why don't they put the money into adjudication for our immigration system. We obviously need more judges, more lawyers, more social workers more Clerks, Etc to adjudicate all of the outstanding cases, instead of putting money into idiotic groups like ICE, who abused their Authority.
Yep. Privatization demands profitability. If crime decreases (or wasn't the horrible levels it was advertised at) they still need to fill beds for their investors.
I wonder who got these contracts that the gov’t is paying for these detention facilities. Our tax dollars! Who’s getting wealthy from this? One of Trump‘s campaign donors no doubt. The market losing trillions, except for the ones who knew that trump was going to manipulate the market.
Fought against something similar in Texas with red light cameras. Violation of 4th amendment rights for profit. Republicans *used* to think this was a bad idea. Now they're falling over themselves to shred the constitution.
