You don't need to care, emotionally, that much. You just need to recognise things that are good and bad, intellectually, and support or oppose them, accordingly. We aren't built to take on all the suffering in the world. And you can drive yourself insane, if you care too much.
Have you noticed that of all the homeless people with no money, mental problems or drug problems are white people. I'v enever seen any middle eastern of far eastern people on the street. Those cultures respect and admire old people, revere them, while we white people just want them to die alone.
