"Echochamber" just means you don't have to submit to the constant abuse on the platforms. That's literally it.

And the thing about M/A/G/A is that when their environment starts to lack people to abuse, they seem to just get angrier. It's like they need a fix or something.

Like ok, bsky users skew towards people where that is a deal-breaker. But twitter is also skewed: not just towards people for whom it isn't a deal breaker, but additionally on purpose by the site owner who insists on being the center of attention and boosting far-right views to constant discussion

That's what made it so damned toxic. The algorithm deliberately steered you towards conflict engagement. Rage baiting is destructive and poisonous. When I stepped away and then deleted all my tweets, I was genuinely horrified at the things *I WAS SAYING* in response to all the other awful things.

I'm a never trumper. Lots of us jumped over here. We are pretty much dead in the middle of the political spectrum. Some lean either a little right or a little left, or both. Not a TON of us but we are migrating. I think this will prevent this place from being a complete echo chamber.

There are regular users leaving for the obvious reasons, but this is also why we're seeing more big accounts make the jump. Not particularly on the principle of the matter or because they want a left-ier audience. Because twitter is functionally broken for anyone who isn't one of Musk's pet trolls.

I'm a libertarian who admires Musk's rockets/Starlink. A lefty platform has no appeal to me.

Yet, even then, Musks algorithms are driving me to BlueSky. I have healthier interactions with 2.3k followers here than 60k followers on Twitter.

Also, accounts I follow moved, so I have to also use Bsky.

Also because blue ticks get priority in replies, if you are a big account or have a post go viral, the conversation becomes dominated by the views and replies of those people. The bigger you are, the stronger that effect

If you're small and having conversations with friends, ok, maybe you don't notice. But that's a propaganda effect: it's skewing conversations and discussion topics on purpose. Bsky also has a natural version of that, sure, any site will, but at least it's not boiling in RW talking points *by design*

I think it did for a lot of us- I quit the second Musk started to be in charge, but missed a lot of my people- I got a lot of them back here, plus new people! Win win, IMO. And knowing that the platform gives a damn about the experience is an absolute plus.
