My son is on AISH. I do not understand how the prov govt can essentially pocket funds provided by the federal government. I think the funds should be provided to prov govts for distribution on the condition that they are added to prov funding, not allowing prov to reduce their funding.

Forcing people to pay upwards of $500 just to get the paperwork in order to apply for the $200 and then clawing back is reprehensible. I just turned 65 and other than the medical benefits I am so glad I don't have to live in fear of being cut off because someone decided I wasn't disabled enough.

I need to look into this. If we don’t apply for it because we won’t actually get it anyway, will the provincial AISH amount still drop by $200? I’m thinking it will. I am so pissed at those who voted UCP; you have to stay hyper-vigilant. Another example - AISH reduced amount for dental care by 50%.

All costs are going up for AISH recipients, the same as everyone else - rent, utilities, food. My son’s rent just went up $200/mo, went up by $150/mo a year ago - 78% increase in 2 years. AISH has not gone up in a long while other than a few dollars (like $20/mo).
