Even if it did process information that way, no two brains would process information the same way. We are not clones, not circuit boards. We can't be programmed.

Yes, because these minds deal with incoming information differently, and that can result in enhanced ability in some areas. It’s a great example of difference rather than deficit in neurodiversity.
I've hated the brain is a computer metaphor since I first learned about it in undergrad because it was clear to me that as computers changed, so did how we talked about the brain. That, for me, showed an inherent weakness in the argument.
The problem is that it has been woven into national policy, documentation and edu-speak. It is going to take a long time to unpick some of the deeply held misconceptions that are out there.
It certainly will. We need to always remember that explanations that simplify human beings are very attractive to politicians because they can apply simpler, cheaper policies to practice.
