Silver lining: as the agency gets staffed up and builds institutional knowledge, they'll be focusing entirely on the state that is by far the easiest intelligence target for Canadians

We need standard template buildings the government encourages developers to build en masse with economies of scale and ease of construction in mind. My parents grew up in a Commieblock and I'm not against living in a Carneyblock

The biggest problem rn isn’t architecture, but building cost and where the fuck will you build. Both things which were very cheap after WW2 thanks to returning veterans and both caste swath of land being free of buildings and accessible by car from downtown and the federal owning a bunch of land.

The federal still own good amount of land, particularly in Montreal. But redoing what it did post WW2 won’t work.

What we need is for the public to build housing for all income.

How exactly to implement this I’m unsure. Do you build and sell to the private. Or do you build and then rent to people.

I personally prefer the later approach. You could even do a sort of like life long lease. Maybe something similar to emphyteuthic loans, either transferable or not.

The tenant has all the rights of a owner, but the property is still owned by the public.

Kind of the best of both world for both the public and the renter. And the public could mix this in a building with more regular leasing contract and social housing too.

So you end up with a mix of social classes which is great.
