I don’t know how sustainable a political order is under these conditions. Destabilizing forces are everywhere and without signs of relenting soon.

I worry about the Republican propaganda apparatus.

Right-wing media can't hide the damage, but they can still distract and disorient their viewers.

Only about a third of Americans give a damn about being factually informed, at least a third is happy to swallow comforting lies.

That doesn't make them a stabilising force, which was what the original point was concerned with. Indeed, it makes them one of the destabilising forces.
