Carrot or stick? In a massive dataset of over 10,000 cities around the world, the strongest association with distance travelled by walking and cycling was not climate, topography, or even infrastructure - it was *gasoline prices*!

yes. If methane is part of the oil crisis we would also see gas lines disappear from houses like they did in the 70s, all of the fake chefs who think you need gas to cook would suddenly find they don't care anymore

Yes. It would have in the ‘70s but the infrastructure and the vehicles weren’t there. But they are now. (Though MAGA may shoot the US in the foot here too.)

Something like the 1970s oil crisis might radicalize an entire generation again as rising fuel costs force people to cycle and rely on electric alternatives more with people not trusting oil supplies because of back to back shocks from the Pandemic and then whatever new BS 2025 gives us.
