My friends and I feed about 250 people a week, we are not a big organization, just a group of friends feeding hungry people. Since DOJE was formed we have been planning for the cuts. It is not a shock, no one should be gobsmacked. Time to donate, not just money and food, your time is also valuable.

I only have my SS. I receive $144 a month too much to qualify for Medicaid without a spenddown. I receive $98 a month in food stamps. Every $ in my SS is paid on bills. If it weren't for a dear friend I would have no place to live. Once these cuts happen I will probably be living in my car homeless

This is going to happen to a lot of seniors when they start closing nursing homes with the cuts from Medicaid, families will have to house their parents which will be an extra burden on them with caring for them, which causes problems in family dynamics

it's crazy. they give us a cost of living increase- like around 4%- and then cut our SNAP bc we're getting more $$.
and it's always been this way, it's nothing new.
i had a 15% cut in SNAP last month. i'm sitting here dying of emphysema, and they're worried i'm getting $22 too much in food benefits.

😢 i’m so sorry it’s horrible. Since I live in a red state most of the seniors I know have SNAP and Medicaid. One of them who is chronic illness receive $60 a month too much in Social Security so cannot qualify for Medicaid. The SNAP is generally about $20 a month. 🤗

I live in a state with draconian SNAP requirements. Well below the poverty level, a senior living on SS and here I qualify for exactly $19 a month in SNAP. $19. I never bothered, not worth the paperwork now, sure won't be soon. Food assistance for the poor should be easy, not hard. Full stop.
