It was the late PS2 era. Back then, GameStops would get in some rare PS2 games and sell them for $35 used. People suspected that they were stealth reprints. I think my copy of "Tales From The Abyss" was one of those as well.

Loved these games. 1 is fantastic, 2 is a step down but provides good character development still, and 3 is the best. I highly recommend you track down the music to these games as well, best soundtracks in all of gaming imo.

I played through the first one again somewhat recently and the story is still great. What may not hold up for some is the pacing, it's quite slow, and by that I mean the actual cutscene dialogue delivery isn't paced well. The actual story moves pretty well compared to say "Trails" games.

I hope you enjoy them! Expect to pay at least USD $100+ for a legit, decent quality copy of EPIII. Scam listings are common, unfortunately.

Don't let anybody tell you EPII sucks, either. It has a lot to offer!

XS 1 used cost way more , it's gone down in value the last few years. Part 3 is still pricey , part 2 somewhat . Hope you enjoy them! 🎮👍

Gears? Better than FFVII that's for sure. Only thing holding it back is Square forced it out before it was done.

Saga 1-3? Eh. They're PS2 slow but all hand animated so if you don't get impatient they're pretty good today. Bandai preemptively killed the series. Could all do for a remaster.
