However, uranium mining on that scale was only really for nuclear weapons. We use decommissioned nuclear weapons as reactor fuel sometimes.

And even when it comes to fuel, we can recycle pretty much most of it, we just don’t because capitalism, but specifically because we have a whoooooole lot more uranium than we could ever need. Like, with breeder reactors that recycle fuel, we’d be able to meet 1980’s electricity demand for 7 billion

No, we definitely should not have reeducation camps for fossil fuel workers. Just beef up unemployment insurance, and let them reevaluate their life choices on their own.

I would agree to that also being an option, but sponsored re-training in a new career should very much be a carrot to the stick of shutting down fossil fuels, it is not by any stretch, a re-education camp anymore than vocational school is.
