The nice thing about DNS verification is that you can own a domain name with relative anonymity and still be "verified" by that even if you go by some pseudonym on here.
But as with the old verification method, it's not really needed for most regular users. Nobody would bother to impersonate me.π

impersonation, the challenge is the increasing proportion of inauthentic accounts: people employed to sow disinformation and push radicalisation on hundreds of sock puppet accounts, and going forward, millions of generative AI bots who will be increasingly difficult to spot.
The tools are already in place for people to verify they are a specific person, or affiliated with a specific organization.
In theory those accounts should (as they used to be at the other place) be considered more reliable/authentic sources.
