I hate to be that guy, but it feels like there was more (again, totally justified) outrage at Tik Tok being banned than Trump trying to take birthright citizenship away and deciding to use ICE to ethnically cleanse Black and Brown folks.

The 14th Amendment was meant to ensure the citizenship of freed slaves, not to give citizenship to everybody who delivers a baby here.

There are a lot of people trying to trivialize the TikTok ban and trying to make it seem like we just wanted a silly app to play with. There are a lot of people who became much more educated and active in their communities because of that social media platform.

They attacked free speech.

Where is the evidence of all of these good things TikTok supposedly made happen? If people got more educated and active, why did Trump and MAGA win? The empirical evidence does not support your hypothesis. The evidence does support the theory that social media is used to spread lies.

Why did they go after TikTok? Because people were standing up and finally spreading the truth about racism, misogyny and more recently Zionism and the slaughter of Palestinian people. It wasn’t an app owned by an American. They want to control the narrative.

Maybe that’s true, but the fact remains that whatever good you think TikTok did, there is no evidence of a positive impact on maintaining US democracy. I do know that the number one reason previous Biden voters didn’t vote for Kamala was the war in Gaza, and I know that was a theme pushed on TikTok.

Also, your statement was wrong in a second respect. I never fought against TikTok. I just look at the facts and can plainly see that it has had no discernible positive impact on the outcome of the last election. I don’t care one way or the other about it. I’m angry about actual harm to human beings.
