Idk how you are all having so much trouble in USA for getting physically games. In Europe you can buy any game on amazon and if not there are multiple technology/gaming shops where you can preorder or just go and buy the thing. Even in my "grocery store" they sell them physically.

Of big box stores, Best Buy has been the most reliable for me for getting stuff at least close to day & date. Otherwise pretty much *all* of my physical video game purchases are from @vgp-videogamesplus.bsky.social or @pnpgames.bsky.social. Hopefully the US-CA tariff situation doesn't deteriorate.

I work and Best Buy and preordered it and we didn't get enough copies the week of release for me to pick one up. I had to swap it to shipping and it arrived Saturday, but I didn't even get tracking info until that morning.

I think your in-store experience is completely valid. I am not sure what you experienced on the Nintendo website though. I preordered my physical copy back in January on the Nintendo site and got it Day 1.

I also got it at Target but I did a pickup order to ensure it was ready when I got there.

I typically do GameStop preorder, but I lack your self-respect. 😉

But yeah, your point is valid. Physical media is increasingly not a priority...you have to seek it out intentionally.

Pre ordered mine on the Nintendo store website without any issues about a month before release. Only thing was that I got the game on 21st so just a day late, but that didn't bother me. Was pretty straightforward

Best Buy has been the most reliable for me. I pre-ordered XCX:DE and got it delivered on day 1. I rarely order from Amazon and Gamestop can go out of business.

Had a similar situation with this and Metaphor. With XCX no copies in store at either GameStop or Walmart. Bestbuy had 5 copies and just like your Target experience. It was in the back still. Metaphor same experience. But no copies at any local store. Had to order online.

Yeah, I had the pre-order in my cart direct from Nintendo and forgot to finish checking out. When I remembered a few days before release it listed as 'sold out' in my cart. I ordered day of release when it showed in stock and got it Saturday. I guess they limited pre order??
