Crossing a picket line and not being vegan are not the same though I’m sorry, I hate animal cruelty but I do not have class solidarity with cows and chickens. I’m sorry, I hate animal cruelty but I do not have class solidarity with cows and chickens. I eat what I can afford and I don’t really think more about it than that. Maybe I’ll have the privilege to consider it deeper later in life.

Unrelated to ethics: regular meat and dairy are more expensive than vegetarian food at least. You just can't live your life trying to replicate Western standards. Eat more Asian foods and shop at an Asian market if possible. Indian peasants have been eating vegetarian for millennia.

Agreed. I’m working on my diet currently anyways. I’m just picky and did not have anyone in my life try and make me eat healthy until last year. I had a high metabolism, so my family just fed me whatever junk they grabbed, then I went to college and gained 30 pounds

Right. And I don't mean to deny that diet is an easy thing to change. It's incredibly complicated and wrapped up in health and culture. But I think it's an overstep to say that there's NO moral component to one's diet choices. Sometimes we make morally negative decisions due to circumstance.

Fair point, I was overstepping when I said that. I just saw the OG guys comment and felt bad that he felt like he was morally failing over this. It’s stupid, but I worry about people’s mental health when they beat themselves up over something like that. Wanted to tell him he’s not evil for it.

You do not have to cross a picket line to eat a burger. This is a bad hypothetical. Sure, whatever. If the food is orphaned babies, then yes eating “food” is a moral failing, but we’re talking about veganism, not unions. You’re just on a different subject than what I’m talking about, G.
