This game has been such a dipole experience for me.

On one hand, it's doing everything I want in combat, on the other, I think it's falling short of what I expect from Obsidian in terms of story and writing.

Which is a very strange shift for my Obsidian experiences.

I'm playing on a higher difficulty and I think the *one* thing I'd really mod about the experience is the wall that is attempting to fight something one quality above you.

I get it should be more difficult, but it is nearly a *wall*.

And it's such that turning the difficult down a notch -

doesn't *really* make sense, because I'm melting everything in my quality level.

I *do* like the quality mechanic, on balance. It's a more interesting way to approach things than level, but I would like it to be a *little* more subtle.

I can’t speak on the writing yet as I’m not too far in though its been just fine for me, however I haven’t played a ton of their older games to be a good judge 😅 but I do agree its pretty crazy you hit a WALL if you don’t upgrade your gear which is wild, like you dont even have a shot

I just finished PoE 1 & 2 to try and make sure the lore was as fresh in my mind as possible.

The problem is the writing in those games is just immaculate. It gave me the same sense as Dragon Age: Origins in that you felt like you were in a living world with the full spectrum of good and evil.
