Republicans want to talk about Biden’s decline for obvious reasons, like taking the focus off their wildly corrupt and incompetent incumbent — but the fact that they see upside in the discussion has no bearing on what actually happened, or what the best roads forward as a party and nation are.

I agree! And I think one of the most productive ways to actually move forward is for the people who engaged in a serious coverup to see professional consequences. Keeping them in positions of authority in the party is asking for this millstone to be hung around our necks in perpetuity.

We don’t have to play their game in the press, but we also shouldn’t pretend nothing happened. Something happened, and the people who facilitated it are currently consulting every frontline congressional and U.S. Senate race for next year. They shouldn’t be.
