My dad’s birth name was not his real name (his dad had stolen the identity of a dead man to enter the country). He had his name changed when he was about 9.

My dad is an 89-year-old veteran, and the régime wants to take away his right to vote and deport him.

Adoptees will have it as bad as married women. My stepson is a naturalized citizen, adopted at 14. The hoops he had to jump through to renew his passport were ridiculous! He has to carry it because he's Hispanic and expects to be stopped and questioned.

Is the amended birth certificate not acceptable. Access to the original birth certificate is generally granted only through a court order.

In my case, an amended birth certificate was never filed. In order to replace my stolen driver’s license, I had to engage an attorney to petition the Commonwealth of Kentucky to open my adoption records to create a timeline from my original birth certificate (which I had) to my adoptive maiden name.

Since an amended birth certificate was never filed, my original birth certificate was always on record and available. Since there was nothing secret about my adoption (I had four older brothers - three went into an orphanage; one joined the military after our mother died during my birth).

Here's the thing too, it costs money to make these changes. Anytime you order a certified document it costs money. If you have to go to court, it costs money...

When you were adopted your original bc became non existent. They issued you a new one with your new parents names on it right. That’s now your original. I know because me too and I joined the military and had kept my old paper it was non existent except the copy I had. Replaced by the new one.

We’ve done this already to get the Real Id gold star on our driver’s license. I had to get a certified state birth certificate, certified state copy of both my marriage & divorce papers. Was told at the DMV many born in 1945 or earlier don’t have birth certificates.

Exactly. Everyone should be getting their documents if they don't have them, and their should be lawsuits against this type of voter suppression. People change their names all the time..by choice or by circumstance, and as long as you have a history of using your new name, it should not matter.
