These are all just operational issues. The old white guy will eventually be relieved of command, but donβt get distracted.
Too much real Racism, Sexism, Classism, Ageism, Ableism, homophobia, anti-Trans, anti-human, anti-Palestinian and Anti-Semitism to get distracted by normal military mishaps.
Stop with the blaming of old white men! It's a witch hunt! They're endangered! They're threatened, taunted, tormented and live their lives in the shadows just trying to live peacefully. But will you let them? Nooo, ya gotta just pile on these misunderstood people.
I think youβre keying in on the wrong message here.
@depechemodefan101.bsky.social wasnβt targeting white men. More about anyone serving makes mistakes or is accountable including trans, women, black or brown.
Christopher "Chowdah" Hill is a good man. If any of you followed him on Twitter, he is a huge & steadfast proponent of an inclusive USN. I have no idea if this is a human failure or equipment failure. And yes, if the Navy follows their standards he should be relieved of command, just as former Cap.
I read some of his posts and replies. He's well regarded by his crew. Thanks for the info. I don't want to be mooing with the herd, who judge him by seeing one photograph.
As others have said he will get relieved of command once they hit safe port.
The Navy doesnβt play they will punitively punish to set the example. My div worked months without a break because someone messed up on shore duty.
If they donβt replace him once it hits safe harbor then something is upπ€¨
Heβs a post-tour carrier CO that had to take command of the ship a few months ago, since they hit a ship transiting a channel.
Poor bastard is gonna get fired, and he was the guy sent to fix them. I think the planes shot down by CG-64 was on his watch, too, but the two in the mud are his.
Thank you for knowing what the score is. The first F-18 loss was due to them avoiding incoming rockets. This 2nd one-- who knows if we'll get the real story. The man's career is toast after, and he was better than most.
I kind have an interest, having salvaged an F-14 myself years ago off San Diego coast.
βThere are more aircraft in the ocean than subs in the skyβ, as I say.
The first aircraft lost on this deployment was shot down by USS Gettysburg, accidently, followed by the 18 & tractor, and then the 18 landing
A photo of the status board I kept outside of the control van for our our ROV system during the salvage. It kept all of the investigators out of my hair while we were on the bottom.
Next I suppose you're going to tell me he's a RethugliKKKan? A Trump cultist? A Christian nationalist! An evangelical? One who espouses "family values"? One who attended or applauded the Jan 6 insurrection on our Capitol? If you answer YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, and YES, my response is one of shock!
Biden got 13 soldiers killed and surrendered to Afghanistan arming those damned hadjis with 80 billion dollars worth of vehicles, ammo, weapons and equipment.
Just wanted to share this with you in case you didnβt already know.
I was in the Navy for 8 yrs. I can say shit happens on carriers. They are dangerous places to be, especially during flight ops and even more difficult & dangerous at night

Original post incorrectly identifies him commanding officer of the USS Truman.

Then he's a goner.
