And I won't argue that getting out in the streets does help. I've been joining the protests and plan to continue. I just don't want anyone thinking that alone will get us out of this. Our representatives have way more authority than we do.
I apologize if there was a misunderstanding in the intent of my initial post. Truly. I'm grateful for your efforts to protect our Republic & to rid us of Trump & his loyalists. I know we're on the same side, fighting for the same cause, looking for the same outcome. I just hope we get there quickly.
It seems we agree on a lot of things. I would say, though, that with enough pressure from #WethePeople, we can actually navigate our own way out of this. That's not to say that it will happen in a vacuum, but rather that our actions will be a forcing mechanism for the necessary change in DC.
I agree with you that our reps have more power, individually, than any of us. However, that power is still insufficient to get Trump removed. Anything short of his removal is not enough. Our elections are not safe while he is in office. Judges are the only thing staying full-blown authoritarianism.
When we are united in cause & act together to advance our cause, we have far more power than any elected reps. But this power is not without its costs for all of us. It is not convenient or easy to force political change through public pressure. It takes hard work, sacrifice, strategy & persistence.
If I may clarify my initial post, I was responding to Gaetano, an account I have caught spreading misinformation on multiple occasions. I was calling the account out for a counter-productive narrative. If we use BlueSky to inspire, organize & grow our movement, then it can be a very effective tool.
However, Bluesky & other social media can also be weaponized against us. That is what the video I posted talks about. That's not to say that I am asserting dissent with reps is forbidden. It is perfectly valid, but should be framed constructively with a proposed solution that inspires hope & action.
