I mean we saw this at the beginning of COVID. I don't blame the decision to shut down, but there were no plans on how to help those who live paycheck to paycheck.
Oh, you want to go there. Basic needs? That's a tiny piece of the puzzle. Crime rates go through the roof when there are no jobs, lousy schools, zero public transportation, hunger, stress, no healthcare and needless deaths. Love Baltimore.
Have you ever heard of Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs? That encompasses everything you just mentioned at the base of the pyramid… which is what I was referencing by the words, “basic needs.”
it’s ok the justice department stopped finded local crime initiatives & isnt prosecuting serious cases anymore…should be fine. Oh and everyone is armed….
I was just talking with someone about this the other day. Either you can house them or you can imprison them. Either way, you’re paying for them and wouldn’t you rather they be housed and not traumatized and be able to ‘pull themselves up by their bootstraps’?

Crime would all but disappear and we wouldn’t have to spend so much damn money on prisons and their staffing.
